New Darts on the road!

Here we go! This is the first of 4 'new' R reg Darts to hit the streets of Plymouth today. The bus in question is R401 FCC the first of the batch delivered new to Oxford. I must admit the Wright body really does suit this livery, the bus looked really smart. I doubt many would be able to tell that this bus is now some 12-13 years old! Look out for more on the road in the coming weeks!

  1. Sorry Laurence - can't agree. I think this PCB livery looks hideous on the Wright body - no appreciation of shape whatsoever!

  2. Agree with the above, slapping any tatty livery on these cast offs.

  3. Apparently there are two Wright Eclipses in the depot being rubbed down, can you confirm?

  4. Hmm I can see what you mean, but the livery I think does link together with the body quite well. The black band around the top continues the blind box nicely. The clean cut of red on the rear offside also looks quite good I think. True though that the story is different on the front, there is no appreciation of the body whatsoever! I know they need to keep a standard design, but why not choose something that generally fits in well with all types? Love it or hate it, Barbie 3 does look tidy on nearly all vehicles that First operate.

  6. Indeed you're right Ben they haven't get been converted to single door. I'm not sure if there are any plans to but I don't think there's very much use for the 2nd door in a city like Plymouth. On the Ex-London Volvos people generally still use the front door anyway!

  7. Livery looks ok to me. These three buses (R401FFC, R402FFC, R408FFC) were rostered exclusively on my local route in Oxford City for many years and were rarely out of service. I moved from Oxford to Devon earlier this year - it seems these fine vehicles are following me!!
