Snap on Sunday
Of course today was the very first Roselyn Open Day in Par and indeed it has been very successful with a very good turnout considering this is the first event held. A full story will be published soon but for now here's a photo of Ex Plymouth Citybus Atlantean ATK 164W crossing the lever crossing in Par.
Do the Plymouth City Bus/Guide Friday tours still operate around Plymouth?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately not no. The only tour that is still offered is on a Leyland Leopard with a private company doing an historic tour of Plymouth. This is a topic that often arises in conversation though! Does still seem somewhat strange that an open top service hasn't been re-implemented!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wonder why it was withdrawn (my guess is that it wasn't making money!). This surprises me though as I would have thought that Plymouth would have been an ideal venue for this type of attraction. The City's tourism boses keep saying that Plymouth is on the up and up. This does not always seem to transform into reality on the ground. I think that this is a sad loss for Plymouth. As you say it needs to be an open top service with that slightly "querky" feel about it.
ReplyDeleteIndeed you are right Plymouth has always seemed an ideal location, especially with the moors to the north and coastline to the south. You are right though they do tell us that tourism is booming. The old open top tour was a pretty long standing route. The only thing I can think of is maybe visitors who came back to the city simply got bored of it! Would be great to see it come back though. Though I doubt Go-Ahead would be into running that sort of thing!
ReplyDeleteThe vehicle in question is actually ATK 154W. The ATK batch only went up to 161 although nos 158/159 had different registrations
